Biomaterials and Bionanotechnology Program

The Biomaterials and Bionanotechnology program supports fundamental research that enables the generation of novel, Navy-relevant, nano-scale materials and devices. Program interests currently include, but are not limited to:

  • DNA nanotechnology and application to electronics miniaturization
  • Bio-directed synthesis and patterning of nanomaterials
  • Understanding the structure-property relationships of protein-based materials
  • Development of bioinspired or biomimetic devices/materials (e.g., underwater adhesives)
  • Biomimetic molecular motors
