Advanced Reactive & Energetics Materials Program

ONR invests in the "Navy after Next" technology supporting weapons system science and technology that will provide long-range maritime dominance. ONR's major challenge is to provide improved performance with acceptable insensitivity characteristics for explosives, propellants and reactive materials. The next generation of energetic materials and concepts must meet current and future mission requirements imposed by conflicting weapon system demands. Research objectives focus on enhancements in delivered energy in compact volumes while improving resistant to catastrophic failure in extremely stressful environments. The conventional Advanced Reactive and Energetic Materials Program will continue to facilitate and support emerging naval warfighter requirements.
