High-Speed Weapons Program

As the science and technology lead for the Sea Strike pillar of Sea Power 21, the Office of Naval Research Naval Air Warfare and Weapons Department is responsible for fostering, planning, managing and executing of scientific research and technology development in the areas of physics, aerospace materials, energetics, surface and air launched weapons, kinetic and directed energy weapons, air vehicle structures and subsystems, modeling and simulation, and air vehicles design. Discovery & Invention (D&I) fosters basic and applied research in these fields.

High-speed weapons discovery and invention focuses on enabling technologies for high-risk high-payoff systems. Key areas of interest include:
