Travel to the Office of Naval Research

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) is accessible by Metrorail as well as several area train stations and airports.

By Metrorail:

Ballston-Marymount University station on Orange Line

• Exit at street level to the corner of N. Fairfax St. and N. Stuart St.
• Walk down N. Fairfax St. away from N. Stuart St. (do not cross N. Stuart St.)
• Walk one block, then make a right onto N. Randolph St.
• Walk up N. Randolph St. one block to 875 N. Randolph St.

From Union Station (8.2 miles, 20 minutes)

• Turn onto Massachusetts Ave. from Union Station
• Follow signs to I-395 South
• Route zigzags-right onto New Jersey Ave.
• Left onto H St.
• Stay in left lane
• Left exit to I-395 South
• Continue on I-395 South
• Take Exit 8, Washington Blvd. (Rte. 27)
• Go past Columbia Pke and Rte. 50 exits
• Head towards Clarendon
• Turn left onto 10th St.
• Go past Pershing Dr.
• 10th St. becomes Fairfax Dr.
• Turn left onto N. Randolph St.
• Drive 1-1/2 blocks to 875 N. Randolph St.

From National Airport to Ballston (6 miles, 20 minutes)

• Follow Airport exit signs to George Washington Pkwy North I-395
• Exit merges into GW Pkwy, stay in center lane
• Continue North to I-395 South exit
• From I-395 South, take Exit 8, Washington Blvd. (Rte. 27), past Columbia Pike and Rte. 50 exits, toward Clarendon
• Pass Pershing Dr., turn left onto 10th St., which becomes Fairfax Dr.
• Turn left onto N. Randolph St.
• Drive 1-1/2 blocks to 875 N. Randolph St.

From Dulles Airport to Ballston (I-66, 21 miles, 25 min.)

 * Note: Vehicle occupancy restrictions via I-66 do not apply when driving to airport. Must have airline ticket.

• Exit airport area to Dulles Access Rd. (Do not take Toll Rd.)
• Follow signs to I-66 East (Access Rd. merges into I-66 East approx. 17 mi. from airport)
• Take Exit 71 (Rte. 120 Glebe Rd., Rte. 237 Fairfax Dr.)
• Go straight, Exit 71 merges into Fairfax Dr.
• Turn right onto N. Randolph St.
• Drive 1-1/2 blocks to 875 N. Randolph St.

From Dulles Airport to Ballston (I-495 - to Rte. 50 East, 25.6 miles, 38 min.)

• Exit Airport area to Dulles Access Rd. (Do not take Toll Rd.)
• Follow I-495 sign to Washington/Richmond (5 mi.)
• Take Exit 8 (Rte. 50 East, Arlington Blvd.)
• Pass Graham Rd., Annandale Rd., Patrick Henry. Get in right lane.
• Exit Glebe Rd., North
• Pass Wilson Blvd.
• Turn right onto Fairfax Dr.
• Turn right onto N. Randolph St.
• Drive 1-1/2 blocks to 875 N. Randolph St.
