Naval High School Science Awards Program – Scholarships
In addition to recognizing over 1,500 high school students at science fairs with certificates and monetary awards, the Office of Naval Research (ONR) awards 22 portable undergraduate scholarships to high school students at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) who are U.S. citizens. Twenty students receive $8,000 portable scholarships – one student from each scientific category (17), and three students from any category who have projects deemed to have particular Naval relevance. In addition one two-person team is recognized, with each team member receiving a $4,000 portable scholarship.
Junior Science and Humanities Symposia
NSAP recipients who are freshmen, sophomores or juniors are invited to apply to participate and compete for generous undergraduate scholarships in the Junior Science and Humanities Symposia (JSHS) Program. Jointly sponsored by the Army, Navy and Air Force, the JSHS program is designed to encourage analytical and creative development in the sciences and engineering. National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB)
This team competition is intended to increase knowledge of the oceans on the part of high school students, their teachers and parents, as well as to raise the visibility and public understanding of the national investment in ocean-related research.
