The Navy Metalworking Center (NMC) presented its current and planned projects to the Metals Subpanel of the Joint Defense Manufacturing Technology Panel (JDMTP) July 20-21 at Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

JDMTP, which includes representatives from government organizations and industry, identifies and integrates requirements, conducts joint program planning and develops joint strategies for the manufacturing technology (ManTech) Programs conducted by the Army, Navy, Air Force, Missile Defense Agency and Defense Logistics Agency.

The Metals Subpanel reviewed 28 NMC projects that support the Virginia Class Submarine, CVN 78, DDG 1000 and Littoral Combat Ship. The annual review serves as a venue for technology transfer, identifies areas where major opportunities may exist for joint initiatives, assesses the health of defense technology objectives and identifies progress in promoting jointness in project planning and execution.

"The JDMTP Subpanel members provided outstanding feedback on our current portfolio of projects, calling them pragmatic and relevant," said NMC Program Director, Daniel Winterscheidt. "They also noted our successes in transitioning technology, which demonstrates the real benefits we provide to our customers."

Steve Luckowski of U.S. Army ARDEC is the current JDMTP Metals Subpanel chairperson. Other members of the panel present were John Carney, U.S. Navy; Walter Roy, Strategic Mantech Inc.; Howard Sizek, U.S. Air Force; Ray Monroe, Steel Founders Association; Bill Palko, Dynamics Research Corporation; Ralph Resnick, National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining; and Tim Trapp, General Electric.
