Arlington, Va.—The Office of Naval Research will be showcasing a variety of revolutionary technologies destined for today’s and tomorrow’s Sailors and Marines at this year’s Fleet Week in New York, from May 21-26. In addition to new vehicles and other technologies that will be on display at Pier 88, the new Combat Tactical Vehicle (CTV) variant of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) family of vehicles will be available for display. The JLTV is a joint Army, Marine, and Special Operations Command program to replace the current HMMWV vehicle in use by the U.S. military. The CTV is the combat variant, built under contract by the Office of Naval Research at the Nevada Automotive Test Center in Carson City, Nevada, as a technology demonstrator. The CTV takes advantage of lessons learned from combat experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan and incorporates a number of design features that make it better able to resist improvised explosive devices.
The CTV is available for media opportunities in New York on May 21-23. Please contact Colin Babb at 703-696-4036 or Colin_Babb@onr.navy.mil a media opportunity with the CTV.
