Hybrid Complex Warfare Division
Division Director: Dr. Paul Zablocky

The Hybrid Complex Warfare Division of the Expeditionary Maneuver Warfare Department concentrates on programs that span basic research, applied research and advanced technology development. In addition to the types of research, this division considers and balances both “push” and “pull” aspects of technology projects. The push aspect, investigates a breakthrough or innovation that could stimulate a potentially game-changing technology idea absent a developed military concept or requirement. Projects are pursued in these areas to a point where the new technology can be conceptualized, demonstrated and assessed by warfighters. The pull aspect takes place where the warfighter has more explicit requirements-based gaps that need to be filled by additional research and development. This division focuses on these gaps with a drive to provide solutions that can be transitioned into existing and future acquisition programs. In both push and pull, this division strives for projects that exploit opportunities to solve challenges with the most operational impact.

The Hybrid Complex Warfare team chooses a subset of scientific disciplines that best addresses expeditionary maneuver warfare.
