Small Combatant Craft

The Office of Naval Research Small Combatant Craft Program focuses on science and technology relating to hull, mechanical and electrical aspects of small combatant craft, including physics-based hull pressure determination to enable reduced structural weight fractions, understanding of physics and hydrodynamics of advanced hullforms, autonomous control, and launch, recovery and refueling.

The program approach consists of basic research to understand fundamental hydrodynamics, applied research to bring this fundamental understanding to bear on particular naval problems, and advanced technology development of autonomous control for on-water testing and experimentation.
