ONR to Highlight AI Research at DoD Symposium

Leaders from the Office of Naval Research will discuss how the Department of the Navy can best harness the power and potential of artificial intelligence (AI) during two panel sessions at the Department of Defense (DoD) Artificial Intelligence Symposium and Exposition, held Sept. 9-10, 2020. The two-day virtual event is sponsored by the DoD's Joint Artificial Intelligence Center.

The demonstration at the Fleet Integrated Simulation Technology Testing Facility (FIST2FAC) on Ford Island, Hawaii, and aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) located pierside at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, allows Sailors to interact with artificial intelligence forces in countless virtual settings—and train for multiple missions simultaneously.

Global-X Challenge awards over $1 million

The International Global-X Challenge, launched in April by the Office of Naval Research Global (ONR Global), has selected four winning projects that will demonstrate revolutionary capabilities for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, commercial marketplace and the public.

  • This logo was created to identify the International Global-X Challenge, launched in April 2020 by the Office of Naval Research Global (ONR Global). The challenge, consisting of over $1.1 million in awards, selected four winning projects that will demonstrate revolutionary capabilities for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, commercial marketplace and the public.
