ONR leaders gave remarks during Modern Day Marine, held April 29-May 1 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Modern Day Marine is the largest military equipment, systems, services and technology exposition exclusively targeted to the Marine Corps.

Middle and high school students got an underwater view of their SeaPerch robots as they raced through obstacle courses during the fourth annual SeaPerch National Challenge held May 17 in Hattiesburg, Miss.

The proposed topic will explore and exploit the lack of underwater propulsion systems that can efficiently work across a wide variety of speeds over long distances. In particular, this effort is interested in a propulsion system able to transition between low and high speeds, to include the ability to stop and re-start at any time. Other desired characteristics will be briefed at the event. The program will pursue technologies and systems that support development and demonstration of a system that can propel an underwater vehicle in the ways listed. Further mission profile details will be provided at the Industry Day.

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has sponsored the development of an integrated tool to make fluid and fuel analysis faster, easier and mobile. It’s called the Portable Fluid Analyzer Plus (PFA+).
