The Office of Naval Research (ONR) has a history as the science and technology provider for the Department of Navy, advancing the operational concepts and visions for the Navy and Marine Corps of the future. ONR seeks professionals with advanced degrees in scientific and engineering fields. All applicants must be U.S citizens, possess a master’s or higher-level degree in a science or engineering field from an accredited college or university in a field directly related to the position to be filled; and meet any selective placement factor identified for the position to be filled. U.S. citizenship is required.

In addition to the education requirements, all applicants must meet the minimum qualifications requirements as described in the Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) qualification standard. Applicants must submit a resume, transcript, and DD-214 (if applicable). Applications will be kept on file for 180 days.

Leveraging the expertise of more than 50 scientists, technologists and engineers, it reaches out to the broad global technical community and the operational fleet/force commands to foster cooperation in areas of mutual interest and to bring the full range of possibilities to the Navy and Marine Corps.

ONR Global's science directors promote collaboration with international scientists while science advisors identify fleet/force needs and implement technology solutions. Both serve as the chief of naval research's science ambassadors abroad. Additionally, a small team of international cooperation experts coordinates ONR's partnerships with counterpart defense agencies. To best execute its mission, ONR Global maintains a presence in key locations around the world, including London, Singapore, Tokyo, Santiago, Prague and Sao Paulo.
