Navy and Marines Enlist Industry, Academia and Government for Technologies Enabling Naval Power 21

For Immediate Release: Jul 31, 2003

A new feature of the 2003 conference is an Open Innovation Marketplace. Conference participants will have an opportunity to take an active role in the Open Innovation Marketplace. The Open Innovation Marketplace provides attendees a forum to engage Naval Science and Technology Representatives, Naval Program Executive Offices, Naval Program Managers, and Naval Program Officers to explore the Navy and Marine Corps' technology needs for the naval forces of tomorrow.

Based on the partnerships from the first three annual conferences, Navy and Marine Corps laboratory and science managers are working with their counterparts in industry. The continuing goal is to identify new opportunities for industry collaboration to maintain America's technological advantage in national defense.

This year's conference will include presentations by Senior Naval Officials representing deployed Fleets, acquisition programs, and resource sponsors who will collaborate with attending industrial leaders to discuss:

  • Capability Pillars for Naval Power 21
  • Reducing the Time to Technology Insertion
  • Profiles in Information Age Innovation
  • Homeland Defense and Its Relationship to Homeland Security
  • Global R&D Partnerships
  • Military Initiatives for Improving Fuel Efficiency
  • Naval Science and Technology Investment Strategy
  • Matching Emergent Technologies with Current Fleet Needs
