ARLINGTON, Va.—The Office of Naval Research (ONR) Global is reaching out to global maritime security and defense community members at MAST Europe 2011, June 27-29, in Marseille, France, assessing the world’s best science and technology inventions and showcasing the organization’s efforts.
Maritime Systems and Technology, or MAST, gathers senior leaders from more than 40 countries to discuss future capabilities and concepts and evaluate state-of-the-art innovations related to maritime security, systems and technology. By attending, ONR Global will be able to build relationships with foreign naval and defense industry personnel that can help anticipate changes in global military forces and avoid technological surprise.
“ONR Global is the interface between science and technology and future naval forces. Having a presence at MAST is especially important because it provides ONR Global with the valuable international exchange of ideas in science and technology that can help us to successfully deliver new and innovative capabilities to the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps,” said Cmdr. Mark Williams, ONR Global’s regional director and London Office officer-in-charge.
With offices in Washington, London, Prague, Tokyo, Singapore and Santiago, Chile, ONR Global pursues international partnerships with organizations conducting basic and early applied research. The objective is to drive the execution of long-term strategic efforts that address future naval fleet and force needs.
Featuring more than 35 defense-industry exhibits, MAST includes focused discussions on surface, undersea, air and space-related issues and centers on the conference theme of “Global cooperation towards future maritime security.” The event will also include keynote addresses, panel debates and plenary and breakout sessions centered on the topics of maritime security, operations and capabilities, platforms, systems and technologies.
“ONR Global understands the power of actively sharing ideas and collaborating with scientists and policy makers from around the world because each and every meaningful engagement has the potential to increase the Navy’s capabilities,” Williams said.
The annual MAST Europe conference and exhibition, established in 2005, brings together decision makers, technologists and end-users from government, academia and industry for information sharing and networking on the topics of maritime security, systems and technology.
