The U.S. Navy will celebrate its 250th birthday on Oct. 13, 2025. In recognition of this milestone birthday, the Navy kicked off a series of commemorations in January 2025 — including leadership outreach events, multilateral exercises, and community engagements of varying scope and duration. These activities showcase the strength and importance of the Navy to national security and present opportunities to inspire a new generation of Americans to take up the call to serve, in and out of uniform, in the public and private sectors.

ONR is honored to help commemorate the U.S. Navy's semiquincentennial anniversary and celebrate its remarkable history and accomplishments. We join in tribute to the Navy's enduring legacy and vital role to the Nation's defense by sharing our own Navy story.
ONR is proud to be a part of the U.S. Department of the Navy and carry out our mission in service to the warfighter: "to plan, foster, and encourage scientific research in recognition of its paramount importance as related to the maintenance of future naval power, and the preservation of national security.” We deliver critical technology and capabilities to the Naval warfighter to strengthen warfighter readiness and lethality.

From unmanned undersea vehicles (UUVs) that provide persistent situational awareness beneath the surface, to atomic clocks that provide the precise timekeeping that Naval operations rely on, ONR has a long history of delivering dominance to the warfighter.
